The Jolliest Resident at Trueman Pointe!
December 7, 2022
Welcome to Santa Wonderland with Santa himself, Mr. Robin! Robin C. is a resident here at Trueman Pointe and has enjoyed sharing his love of the Christmas season with all of us!
Robin currently has over 300 Santas that he brought to Trueman Pointe to help decorate the facility for the holidays. Robin has Santas that range from pillows, ornaments, nutcrackers, and everything else in between. We asked Robin what his favorite Santa was, and he responded,
"The blue suit Santa is one of my favorites. Three years ago, when my wife was in hospice care, she kept stating that she wanted a specific Santa. I searched all over to find her the most perfect one. I found a Santa in a blue suit, and it soon became her all-time favorite. She was lucky enough to be able to have it at her bedside for a few months."
His favorite part about collecting Santas is the story that comes with each one. Each Santa has a different story about where he found it or how he added it to his collection. He expressed,
"I also enjoy passing along some of my Santas to close friends. It makes the tradition of collecting Santas live on."
Along with collecting Santas, Robin has his own Santa costume that he used to use to dress up as the man himself. Robin enjoyed dressing up as Santa for a few years.
"I loved dressing up and seeing the joy on little kids' faces as they get to meet Santa. It really warms your heart," said Robin. He would also go door to door at the retirement community he used to be involved in and passed out candy canes to every resident. The members of the community always loved it!
Robin's wife played a big role in collecting different Santas when he started back in 1970. Robins's daughter, Michelle, had always known her parents to collect Santas for as long as she can remember. Michelle shared,
"Our parents were always genealogists and always were teaching us history lessons. They would take us to the Ohio Village and see how Christmas was 100 years ago. We would learn about how Christmas used to be. On our way out, we would always stop for candy and have some traditional Christmas treats. It became a family tradition. Over the years, as we met new people, they learned about the history of Christmas too."
Everyone at Trueman Pointe thanks Robin for his generosity in displaying the beautiful Christmas decor at the facility for all to enjoy. Thank you for sharing your Christmas passion with us, Robin! We love having you here at our premier nursing home.
